Ashland hanging out in the park.
He seems to be getting more comfortable waking on grass.
Ashland is teething again and he woke up a few hours after he went to sleep and seemed to be having trouble falling back asleep so I brought him to bed and rubbed his back until he fell asleep again. …And then I forgot he was there until the morning when I found him sound asleep there.
Ashland and his dad in the flower field at the market on Sauvie Island.
Ashland is petting (!) sunflowers. Check out his sneakers — we finally found ones that are easy to put on and he doesn’t mind wearing (in fact, he LOVES wearing them)!
Here’s Ashland and I.
Ashland has gotten very good at walking but for some reason he’ll just remain standing where I put him (to my convenience!!) when we are outside.
Riding the cart through various vegetable/fruit patches to get to blueberries and blackberries.
Ashland is totally loving blackberries!
Ashland and Immi can’t stop munching!
And then we found a market that has a little barn full of farm animals. Ashland seems excited about piglets and cute little black pony.
Ashland figured out how to amplify his voice with a toy megaphone/fake-trumpet. He performs it like he’s playing an instrument looking for different pitches that resonate the horn.
And he also figured out how to eat frozen pop treat. Don’ worry, I didn’t give him whole thing.
Ashland is keeping our coffee safe for us while I put cream in my Americano.
Ashland looks HUGE in his car seat — we have the child seat ready to be installed, we just haven’t had the chance!
Ashland seemed to be a bit constipated these days (probably because he gets most of calories from food and not formula now) so I thought to get him some prunes (it totally *worked* for immi when she was a baby, she got pureed ones) and we happen to find some at the Farmers’ Market! These are totally delicious (I’ve never thought of prunes as “delicious” until I had these! We sampled several varieties and picked brooks prunes) and Ashland likes them a lot too!
Ashland was unusually cranky so I figured he’s teething again and gave him a stale bagel (this one wasn’t especially made for him, it’s accidentally gone stale and that’s why he got the whole thing — it’s so stiff I couldn’t even cut it in half). It worked liked a charm
Ashland is walking around cautiously on the grass at friends’.
We spent few hours on Hawthorne street enjoying all the festivities of the Street Fair and suddenly realized we hadn’t had much to eat besides donuts all day! Besides, I wanted to sit in AC and cool off for a bit so we entered a grocery store (artificially cool breeze wafting from their door enticed us in!) and had some grocery store sushi. The only highchair they had were being used by someone else, so Ashland is just standing on the regular chair having his meal (his dad is holding onto his shirt in case he wobbles). Amazingly, he stood and ate his sushi happily the entire time we were there!
We just finished having lunch at the Market. It’s really nice in the shade but under the direct sunlight, it’s definitely hot! Ashland just said “Happy!” — he really does seem happy from yummy food (he had waffles and sausages) and hanging out with his dad.
Ashland got really hot and grumpy (I don’t blame him!) in the car and being grumpy made him even hotter, so by the time we got home, he was all sweaty! He is cooling off now with a bottle cold rice milk (which he is guzzling down!).
Lately, Ashland’s favorite spot to fall a sleep is right by the mouse while his daddy’s working on something.
Ashland loves to eat and he always seems happy about eating. Even if it’s completely unexciting menu like peas, squash and sushi rice (rice with bit of rice vinegar and tad of sea salt — I got the idea to do this for him at home because he seems to like sushi a lot).
