Ashland has been saying a lot more things. He says “cat!” every time he sees one (this was really his first word). He also points and says “This!!” — exactly like the way immi does it! — when he wants something. He also pointed at my knitting project bag and said “cute!” (learned it from immi no doubt). And then when I asked him if he wanted “more” of his dinner, he said “Done!”.
Ashland suddenly got much better at walking. He can also make a turn walking, and bend over to pick stuff up off the floor. He’s still a bit faster crawling though.
Ashland is playing with the train. He is determined to make it keep going forward, and Miss Monroe is determined NOT to move from her spot.
Todd has been [patiently!] teaching Ashland how to pet a kitty (and not pulling out their fur, ripping off their ears etc.).
…And he has gotten much better about it.
Ashland said a first word! Unsurprisingly, it’s “cat”. When Todd asked Ashland “Is that a cat?”, Ashland said “Cat!”. And then later that day, he grabbed a immi’s plastic kitty and said “cat! cat! cat!”.
Ashland is trying to wake up Oskar because he wants to play with him.
I’ve noticed that Ashland seems to be learning from Oskar a few things :O For one, he rubs his head on you, just like a cat! He does this to immi often, from whom he is trying very hard to gain affection. Another thing he does is to bat around a plastic toy and chase after it…just like a cat! He’s gotten quite fast at it, and it’s really funny to watch.

We are getting ready to go out and he isn’t liking being neglected for an entire minute!

Ashland taking a nap. He wiggled out his left arm out of his shirt! Ashland LOVES blankets, and refuses to go to sleep without out it often. It is unfortunately a hazard, so I keep a close eye on him and/or take it away when he falls asleep.
Ashland woke up from his cat nap and now pulling on Oskar’s tail.
Ashland is trying very hard to crawl.
…And just as he was about to give up, Oskar came along and offered Ashland his tail.
Oskar: “Here, hold on to my tail!”
But it didn’t quite work.
And so Oskar said: “Don’t worry, walking on all 4s is over rated. It’s much nicer just laying around.”
Oskar: “Oh Noooo! Not the ear grabbings!”
Oskar: “…And there he goes again!”
Ashland is pulling on OSkar’s fur and it looks like he wants to say “Watch it! That’s my fur you are ruffling up!”.
But it’s all good, because they are best friends!
It’s almost bed time and Ashland and Oskar are vegging out, Oskar is in charge of the remote apparently. They are watching CareBears because that’s what immi wanted to watch (of course she’s not even watching!). Ashland seems to LOVE watching cartoons! …We think that he might be a couch potato in the making (except he is still more like a TaterTot).
