Dining

We are out for pasta! Ashland wants out of his car seat.

I got this dining mat for Ashland recently. I’ve seen people use it when immi was a baby and I thought it was the dumbest thing ever (I mean, why can’t they just eat out of a bowl or plate?). And then Ashland came along. Unlike immi, who didn’t mess with the bowl/plate until she was done eating, Ashland will try to play with it or attempt to eat the container before he’s done! …So this messy dining contraption actually works pretty well, all things considered.

Avocado

A very nice sushi chef saw me take apart an avocado roll for ashland (he loves sushi rice and avo, but I thought seaweed is probably a chocking hazard) and gave us an entire plate of very yummy avocado! Ashland was very happy about this, but he is now getting sleepy and rubbing his eyes with avocado-sticky hands.

Toe Muncher!

This morning I woke up to a peculiar feeling. My feet were hanging off the edge of the bed and something was biting on my toes. I rolled to one side and opened one squinty-eye…there was an Ashland grabbing onto my right foot and munching on my toes! Of course this is a daring and ballsy maneuver to try because my socks generally are considered hazardous waste and/or biohazard zones. But Ashland is a fearless liger and toe muncher!

Grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s. Looking for cheese now.

Ashland has a new favorite activity — binky tossing. He’ll fling his pacifier as far as he can throw (and he can throw quite far already …maybe about 3 ft? and then sometimes it bounces off further…) and then makes an attempt at finding it. Of course he isn’t all that mobile yet, so I end up having to find it and fetch it. He seems to think its fun :|

Sushi

I found that the sushi place very close to our place has a very good rating (for food being decent for very good price) so off we went. As it turns out, it was a Kaiten-Sushi (apparently  “conveyer belt sushi” in english…). This is definitely Ashland and his sister’s first time at one of those and Immi is very excited.

And it’s really really cheap!! …and it’s really not bad!

Of course, only thing Ashland got to eat was his hand. He stared at us having dinner and chomped on his fingers the entire time…poor thing!

Ashland learned a new trick today!! He can now roll over from back to front (he’d been able to do front to back for a while now)! He seems to have suddently mastered this technique and now it’s difficult to dress him because he rolls around (it’s like trying to put a onsie on a bowling ball or something like that).

Pasta

We are having pasta at Pastini Pastaria because I really wanted pasta and we haven’t unpacked kitchen stuff enogh to make this happen in our kitchen. When we decide to eat pasta out, I’m prepared for a very mediocre pasta but seriously, this was very very good! Ashland is a bit displeased right now because he wants to take a look around this place, and he can’t walk around by himself yet :D He’s been demanding a tour of where ever we go lately. He is usually happy to sit quietly once he gets a tour.

Teaism

We are meeting Auntie Junko at Teaism for lunch because she is leaving for a month long trip around the world (…well, not exactly ‘around’ but too many places for me to remember all the destinations!) this Friday, and while she is away, we’ll be moving. Besides, we couldn’t just leave without saying goodbye to Teaism which has totally become our hangout spot. (Ashland’s sister is busy eating udon noodle.)
