Ashland is mad because he is stuck behind the gate while we get ready to go out for a walk. Check out his new sneakers! It’s his first pair of shoes I got for him that’s actually intended for walking (they have soft but grippy soles). I thought he’ll need them since he is almost walking. In fact, he took 7 steps yesterday, but I’m not counting this as *officially walking* since I don’t think that he knows he actually walked unassisted (he was near the edge of the bed, but let his hands off of it to get to his destination in a hurry).
We stopped by Starbucks during our walk. It’s the first time we are having Starbucks coffee since the first day we moved out to Portland! We haven’t missed it exactly (been busy supporting local coffee houses!) but this is one of 2 easily walking distance coffee place so here we are. Ashland is very pleased with the mini donut he just had.
Today Ashland’s second tooth came in and now he has two front teeth on the bottom. He has been all screech-owly all day, clearly the tooth is bothering him a bit. He can really roar quite loud for being such a tiny little lion. Ash will probably be a rock singer or something because he likes to vocalize a lot and scream in his own style. Making teeth is not all that much fun, it’s a big job for a big dude. We’ve been really busy but has the ligers!
I got Ashland some organic *designer* (heh!) baby food designed by a chef even I’ve heard of since I thought variety would be good for him. Well, Ashland wasn’t impressed. Look at this face! I find it so interesting that persons are born knowing how to make a yucky face. I’m glad he likes my rice cereal recipe (dried rice cereal flakes + water!) better.
Ashland gets upset sometimes when the gate is closed. He seems to think it unfair

Grumpy Ashland! He is hardly ever grumpy, but here he is caught on the camera We are getting ready to go out and he isn’t liking being neglected for an entire minute!

When Ashland’s sister came home from her Grandmom’s yesterday, she brought for him a BIG bag full of cute clothes (Ashland says “Thank You!!” …or he would if he could!). There was even a pair of jeans that fits him exactly!
He looks like he’s got lots of attitude.
…or it just might be that he was threatening to get grumpy:D
Ashland was having tummy time. And then his sister joined him. He suddently got hungry and grumpy.
I think that I saw Ashland smile today!
Ash shed his first tears ever today, he was very upset that food did not magically appear and feed itself to him. Hard lesson to learn in life:
“Boobs cannot teleport from nether-regions into baby dragon beaks!”
So sad but somehow the nano-ninja dinosaur dragon presses onward with the quest for real ultimate power through the dark boob-less-ness!!!
Here’s first semi-success at un-swaddling of Ashland. He is almost grumpy. He likes being propped up on the boppy pillow though. And he is wearing the really cute (and super soft!) organic cotton onesie from his Auntie Junko.
