Ashland decided that the duckie makes a quite decent pacifier.
Watching Ashland, I can tell that he is about to have a break through in development. He is almost walking (getting good at standing, took one step! …but it’s not really walking until he takes 2 or more steps right!?). We hear him imitating words (Todd said “I love you little guy!” and Ashland said “Guy!”). He tries to imitate music too, he was trying to sing the beats to a music, and when I showed him some latin rhythm with toy percussion — he almost got it! He also started to point at things. And unfortunately for me, he got really good at climbing (he can climb up onto things more than 1/2 as tall as he is with ease!).
Our friends Tim & Faye are visiting Portland (first destination of their one month+ cross country road trip!) and we are site seeing. Of course they wanted to go to the famous Stumptown Coffee, and here we are sipping yummy cup of coffee. Ashland only gets to eat his foot.
We got some donuts and walked over to the waterfront area, Ashland is now eating his hand and looking a bit grumpy.
This morning I woke up to a peculiar feeling. My feet were hanging off the edge of the bed and something was biting on my toes. I rolled to one side and opened one squinty-eye…there was an Ashland grabbing onto my right foot and munching on my toes! Of course this is a daring and ballsy maneuver to try because my socks generally are considered hazardous waste and/or biohazard zones. But Ashland is a fearless liger and toe muncher!
Who needs a pacifier when you got a lizard!!
Ashland has been doing very well with solid food eating. We started him on it very slowly as recommended by our pediatrician who thought that delaying introducing possible allergens might help Ashland from developing allergy because he had dry-skin/rash when he was 3-4 month old (though the doctor was honest about lack of real medical conclusion regarding this matter).
Anyhow, he now enjoys rice cereal and veggies and fruits. Lately, he seems really happy about eating solid food. He lets me know when he is done by pulling his bib off, and then trying to undo the highchair’s safety buckle!
Ashland loves wearing hats (I should have known that he would since his sister hates them!). When we are outside and he gets tired, he pulls down his hat over his eyes to block out light and muffle noise. When he wants to see, he just rubs his eyes and pull up the edge of the hat.
He has his pacie upside down, and he knows it (he can easily turn it around all by himself…)! He seems to think it’s funny.
