Early Morning

Ashland is teething again and he woke up a few hours after he went to sleep and seemed to be having trouble falling back asleep so I brought him to bed and rubbed his back until he fell asleep again. …And then I forgot he was there until the morning when I found him sound asleep there.

Bagel

Ashland was unusually cranky so I figured he’s teething again and gave him a stale bagel (this one wasn’t especially made for him, it’s accidentally gone stale and that’s why he got the whole thing — it’s so stiff I couldn’t even cut it in half). It worked liked a charm :)

Saturday

We are at the PSU market and sitting at our usual spot. Ashland is leaning over to see what Immi is doing.

We walked around town for a while and now getting some cheap but yummy conveyor belt sushi. There’s lots of these sushi restaurant all around Portland and it has become our favorite dine-out solution because it’s quite healthy and both Immi and Ashland loves it. Ashland’s favorites are Tamago and Avocado rolls. He is having watermelon now.

We saw our bus leaving as we got to the bus stop and so having to wait 19 minutes for the next one. As it turns out, waiting for a bus in this part of town is completely entertaining for Ashland because there’s live music playing right across the street and lots of people to watch.

Past several days, Ashland has been needier than usual (he doesn’t want me to go out of sight — he is usually fine to be playing with immi in the play room  without me) and having trouble falling a sleep at night (he sleeps fine when he does fall a sleep). We figured he’s teething with the top teeth…but as it turns out top four teeth and and 3rd and 4th teeth on the bottom (he has has 2 teeth on the bottom for some time now) are also coming out! That’s SIX teeth that are trying to come out all at once and it looks really painful!

Bagel

Ashland loves my special teething bagel I make just for him (a.k.a. Stale Bagle: slice in half, then cut in half, leave them on cooling rack for a day :) ). The bagel keeps him very happy and busy for about 30 minutes! It’s a lot less messier for him to eat than teething biscuits, and they are less sweeter too.

Two Teeth

Today Ashland’s second tooth came in and now he has two front teeth on the bottom. He has been all screech-owly all day, clearly the tooth is bothering him a bit. He can really roar quite loud for being such a tiny little lion. Ash will probably be a rock singer or something because he likes to vocalize a lot and scream in his own style. Making teeth is not all that much fun, it’s a big job for a big dude. We’ve been really busy but has the ligers!

Gnawing

Ashland gnawing on his wooden teething toy. He’s been teething on and off but no visible teeth yet.

Chocolate Monster!!!

Ashland is chewing on his favorite teething toy. He is trying to stuff the whole thing into his mouth! I don’t see any tooth yet, but to my surprise, there are teeth marks all over this chocolate, so I’m assuming he’s got them in there somewhere :D

Teething

Ashland’s got the teething grumbles. During the day, he was quite happy as long as he was sitting on my lap and chewing [drooling!!] on my hand.

He would keep dozing off throughout the day, but startling himself awake (…presumably because his teeth are making him uncomfortable). Lately, when he gets sleepy, he rubs his eyes like this.

By the evening, he was quite grumpy (really unusual for Ashland!) because he was very tired (which oddly enough, makes it more difficult for him to fall asleep!). Then, I had an idea to swaddle him once again, which is something I haven’t done in many months now. It worked like a charm and he fell asleep immediately and has been sleeping soundly for a good long while now.

gnawing

Usually very mild tempered angelic Ashland was really grumpy this morning. Only thing that helped him is gnawing on things, so I’m assuming he being a teething monster!

gnawing

Ashland’s socks aren’t on correctly because he discovered his feet recently and has been pulling on his socks.

gnawing2

…I’ll just add here that I was prepared for him to be grumpy all day, but he was totally back to his normal self by afternoon!
